Fun Times at TLA

I was fortunate enough to attend TLA this year in San Antonio.  Despite rain every day, the convention was fabulous - I had a lot of fun and learned a ton!

TLA is the annual conference of the Texas Library Association and overflows with workshops, author talks, vendor exhibits and more.  There were excited librarian everywhere!

A few of the things I learned at TLA...
  • Lots of ideas for great new books to buy for our library collection
  • Way to use readers theater in the library
  • How to host a summer library book camp
  • Ways to bring books to life during story time with songs and puppetry
  • How graphic novels engage young readers
  • Insight from authors into the writing process and how/why they write for children
  • Reading program ideas (look for Readopoly in the fall)
  • New 2x2 books and ideas for using the program in the library
  • And LOTS more

I'm already excited for TLA 2011 - Austin here I come!

Want to learn more about the library world?
The TLA conference website has lots of great info too.
